POLICE have warned Durban motorists to be on high alert as smash-and-grab criminals are targeting female drivers on the M41 (going towards Gateway).
The warning comes after a third smash-and-grab incident at the M41/Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Friday night at 7.30pm.
In the past four years Durban North SAPS have recorded more than 14 incidents at the same intersection.

In the latest incident, the suspect targeted a car stopped at the traffic lights. He then smashed the passenger window and snatched the victim’s handbag with contents to the value of R8 000.
Police spokesperson Capt Raymond Deokaran urged residents to keep their valuables out of sight when parked or at traffic lights.
“Hide your valuables. Car floors, dashboards and seats are not good places to leave items,” he said.
