Armed suspects rob uMhlanga home

AN uMhlanga family have become the latest victims of an armed robbery after an armed gang stormed a home on Portland Drive on Friday afternoon. According to police, the incident occurred at about 4.30pm.

Four armed suspects using a silver Mercedes Benz rang the bell at the home. According to police the gate was opened by a house sitter who mistook the vehicle for the homeowner’s.

Luckily no one was harmed in the incident. The suspects made off with safes, cell phones and a laptop.

The armed robbery is one of a number of incidents in the last week in the North Durban area.

Last week, an armed gang using balaclavas robbed an uMgeni Park home.

According to Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios the resident arrived home and pulled into the driveway of his property in Buckleigh Place and was confronted by the gang.

“The suspects, armed with firearms and crowbars, ran into the property and forced the resident and his wife and children into the house where they demanded cash and jewellery and to know where the safe was kept. A brave neighbour disturbed the gang by repeatedly hooting outside the home.”

The suspects were seen fleeing in white Mercedes Benz A Class.

It is unclear whether the gang are linked to the uMhlanga robbery.
