So you think you can sing?

Andrew Sutton will be part of the So You Think You Can Sing? show.

AFTER many years of large-scale musical shows, this year the much anticipated Northwood Musical takes on a somewhat different track. In celebration of the considerable amount of yet-to-be-discovered talent that Durban North has to offer, Northwood presents “So You Think You Can Sing?” – a singing competition open to Durban North learners in grades 6 to 12.

The show gives learners the opportunity to learn, experience and perform in the same large-scale production that Northwood has become known for.

Singers will compete in front of venerable and knowledgeable judges, well known in the Durban Music Scene – John Ellis (front man Durban Band, Tree 63), Tori Du Plessis (songstress and performer), Rosa de Castro (Head of Vocal Vibes Training Studio), as well as guest judges – all for incredible prizes.

Singers advancing to the later stages will receive one-on-one coaching with industry leading professionals (including Northwood’s own Andrew Sutton!) and gain invaluable skills.

Producer Russell Scott said the school wanted to open the experience of the Northwood Musical to the greater community, making it a truly Durban North event.

Preliminary auditions take place on 12 and 13 March for Grades 6 to 9 and on the 15 and 16 March for Grades 10 to 12, starting at 3pm at Northwood, and are open to Grade 6 to 12 learners from all local primary and girls’ high schools.

A R60 entry fee will be required. For more info email [email protected]
