Suspects flee after La Lucia shootout

Greenwood Park Police Station said that they are now doing more patrols in their sector.

FOUR suspects, two of whom were armed opened fire on a Marshall Security officer in an attempted break-in on Armstrong Avenue on Wednesday morning. According to the company’s Tyron Powell, around 16 shots were exchanged between suspects and the officer during the incident.

“Our officer was responding to an alarm activation at the La Lucia home. Initially the alarm went off a first time and the homeowner checked his property and couldn’t see anyone. However, after the second activation, the owner said he believed there were men in his home. When our officer conducted a search of the home, he found a window pane which had been tampered with. He then entered the property and walked to the top of the stairs.

“As he climbed to the top of the stairs he noticed four suspects, two of whom were armed. They opened fired on him and he returned fire. The suspects then pushed open the sliding door before fleeing on foot and are still at large. Luckily no one was injured in the incident,” Powell said.
