LISTEN-Rosehill celebrate 60th birthday in fine style

ROSEHILL Primary School celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday last week. The school, situated on Buttery Road in uMgeni Park, first opened its doors on 21 January 1957. In its first year, the school had just 22 learners enroll, the official start day was a day later because classrooms were incomplete. Now the school has more than 300 learners and has grown to a fully-fledged primary school from Grade R to Grade.

The school hosted its annual walk this year to coincide with the festivities. Several learners also formed the numerals 60 on the school’s main field. Principal Rima Naidoo, who has been at the school for 19 years, explained the day was capped off with a host of fun activities.

“Its’ an incredible honour for us especially in the sense that we’ve grown exponentially in terms of our numbers,” she said.
