US Doughnut-chain opens in Durban

AMERICAN Doughnut-chain, Krispy Kreme, opened this morning at Gateway Shopping Centre.

Excited Durbanites queued along Palm Boulevard since yesterday, Tuesday 14 March, to be first to taste the delicious doughnuts.

First in line was uMhlanga resident, Ismail Desai. He said, “I’ve been waiting here since 11am yesterday. I had help from my family who kept me company through the long wait.”

Desai will receive a free dozen of doughnuts every week for a year. Various other prizes and goodies were given to the hundreds of people who waited expectantly for the grand opening at 7am on Wednesday, 15 March.

The uMhlanga store is the first outlet of the franchise outside of Johannesburg. Several other shops are expected to open later this year around the country.
