THE 11th White Mountain Festival is coming up from 29 September to 2 October and is the perfect opportunity to escape the city and unwind in a stunning setting while enjoying a great line-up of some of the best acoustic acts in the country.
Known for its intimate, relaxed atmosphere, the festival is held at White Mountain Lodge near Giant’s Castle in the scenic central Drakensberg, only 185km from Durban and just 25km off the N3 on tarred roads.
Included on the bill – which features everything from bluegrass to folk, rock, blues and traditional Celtic and African rhythms – are the likes of Bad Peter, Jack Mantis Band, Georgetown, Lunatic Wolf, Simpl3 Stori3s, Chico Muya, Heather Waters, Jeremy Olivier, Mbijana Sibisi and Wild Lettuce.

Also not to be missed is a stripped-down acoustic set from The Black Cat Bones, as well as Cape Town’s Richard Stirton, winner of M-Net’s The Voice SA.
Aside from the music, festival-goers can look forward to a wide variety of food and drink outlets, great local craft beer, a colourful craft market, plus loads of fun outdoor activities for the whole family.  These include everything from a leisurely dip in the pool to fishing or stand-up paddleboarding on the dam, as well as a trail run presented by TRAIL Magazine.  And of course you can always head for the lodge to catch up on some sport (yes there’s DStv) or listen to some late-night live music.

There is also an on-site ‘tent hotel’, offering a stylish, hassle-free camping experience with all the comforts of home.  Expect great music, fun times and smiles all around from this gem of a festival.  Tickets available at Computicket.
