Greenwood Park celebrate milestone birthday

Greenwood Park Primary School kicked off their 50th birthday celebration last week with a historic reenactment. Last week, pupils, former pupils and teachers took part in a symbolic march, to reenact how the school, as the community knows it today, came to fruition. In 1966 the school, which was previously deemed a ‘whites only’ school was designated a coloured school under the Group Areas Act. Principal of the school, Ian Afrika, said the day was an emotional, but joyous occasion. There was a number of activities for the pupils, which included a ballet performance, a karate demonstration and music. Principal of Greenwood Park Primary, Ian Africa, with his father, Dr Henry Africa, and nephew, Jonathan Brady.
