Vuyo Mvoko speaks about SABC on-location mugging

SABC News contributing editor, Vuyo Mvoko, has spoken out after he became the victim of a mugging that happened while he was presenting live on location on Tuesday evening.

He also posted the following on his public Facebook page:

“Quite an experience, but I’m safe & sound friends. Twas literally seconds before I went on air when, suddenly, 3-4 thugs emerged emerged from I-don’t-know where. They took cellphones from 3 of us, a laptop, and some money. Here’s a video of how it all hapenned…”

Mvuko and the SABC on-location news crew were mugged at gunpoint in full view of TV cameras outside a Johannesburg hospital on Tuesday evening. Mvuko was standing by, covering the visit of Zambian President, Edgar Lungu, for the 7pm news.
