THE SEARCH for Gateway’s 2017 Brand Ambassadors came to an end Friday with the announcement of the winners at Garden Court uMhlanga.
The year-long search for the next young and trendy pair to represent Gateway Theatre of Shopping culminated in an unveiling that saw the hopes of hundreds of applicants dashed. Pelisha Somiah (28) and Louis Hazelhurst (24) were chosen from a final select group of six.
It is the second brand ambassador campaign by Gateway, and the shopping centre’s marketing manager, Michelle Shelley said that the number of entrants doubled for this year’s competition. “The calibre of the entries this year was so much higher than last year. So it was really hard to knock down the couple of hundred entries we had,” said Shelley.
She went on to say, “What we looked for in our brand ambassadors was personality. We looked for people that were personable, down to earth, fun to be around and bubbly – people that can relate to anyone. People that represent what Gateway is all about.”
