THREE girls from Amaoti 3 High School have been offered bursaries to pursue their tertiary education through the Domino Foundation and Vopak.

The foundation’s marketing manager, Rowan Phillips said their bursary programme seeks to create opportunities for empowering young people to achieve an education in their chosen field.

“Our vision is to create a platform through education to empower disadvantaged individuals to reach their full potential. We do this by providing access to funding for tertiary qualifications, living and travel allowances and educational resources,” Phillips said.

Mpanza will study Dental Therapy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). The Domino Foundation’s Bursary Fund Programme has given her and two other students, Nobuhle Ndlovu and Sindiswa Shange an opportunity to go to one of the top universities in the country. Shange has been accepted for Dental Therapy at UKZN while Ndlovu will be at UKZN Edgewood for a Bachelor of Education degree.

“The programme provides academic fees, living, travel, books and resources allowances. It also supports and walks alongside candidates through a mentorship programme to ensure they have the confidence, knowledge and tools required to seek employment,” Phillips added.

An earlier recipient of a Domino bursary, Silindile Ndlovu, has passed her first year and has been offered a post-study employment, through the Department of Basic Education’s Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme.
